Graveblade, Hunger of the Near-Dead
Graveblade is a greatsword forged from obsidian-black steel. Its edge drinks light, a faint violet glow tracing runes along the fuller. The grip is wrapped in midnight leather, and the pommel bears a small silver skull. The blade hums with a mournful whisper that grows louder as the wielder's life wanes, as if the weapon feeds on every breath drawn near death.
Lore
Forged in the waning hours of a empire that worshiped death, Graveblade was tempered with the life-force of a dying star-bound necromancer. The weapon longs to taste vitality, growing stronger the closer its bearer comes to the brink. Sailors report hearing mournful whispers when battle turns grim, and the blade seems to glow brighter as foes thin and hearts falter.
History
Graveblade has passed through the hands of generals who fought to the last breath, thieves who lurked at the edge of life, and wreckers who believed they could outlast death itself. Each owner left behind scars of battles won by bleeding hearts, and the blade's glowโonce a pale violetโdeepens to a crimson as death's grip tightens around the wielder.
