Elixir of Wakeful Vigilance
A small, crystal-clear glass vial wrapped with a copper wire coil. The liquid inside shifts from pale azure to a deeper indigo as it catches the light. The stopper is a polished brass cap shaped like a tiny winged key. The aroma is at once minty and metallic, leaving a faint aftertaste of iron and rain.
Lore
Legends speak of the Wakeful Circle, a covert fellowship of endurance mages who sought to extend the reach of their scouts without sleep. The Elixir of Wakeful Vigilance is said to be a perfected blend of a night-tear draught and rare auric essences, capable of pushing a mortal beyond ordinary fatigue. When used by a leader, it granted the party days of marching and surveying without pause, though at the cost of terrible insomnia once the hourglass ran dry.
History
The first known vial was recovered from the shattered vault beneath the ruins of the Watchtower of Lirath. It was allegedly brewed by a dissolved craftsman-sorcerer who vanished after a failed siege, leaving behind notes describing how to shield the nerves from weariness while depriving the body of rest. The current owner is a caravan scout who traded a weeks-long supply of rations for a single bottle, hoping to chart a mountain pass by dawn after dusk after dusk.
