The Secretkeeper's Key Ring
This small ring is fashioned from tarnished silver, its surface engraved with tiny closed lips, crossed fingers, and keyholes. Several slender loops circle its band, though the metal seems to shift subtly whenever its wearer makes a solemn promise of silence. A newly grown key begins as a silver-green bud, then lengthens over a minute into a delicate iron key whose bow resembles a sealed eye.
Lore
The ring is said to have been made by Veyra Quill, a locksmith-spymaster who believed every secret deserved a door. Her apprentices claimed that the ring never judged whether a secret was noble or wickedโonly whether its keeper truly chose silence. Some sages insist that every key it grows opens a lock built somewhere in the world specifically for that secret.
History
Veyra gave the first ring to twelve courtiers before disappearing during the Moonless Parliament, a diplomatic summit from which no written record survived. The ring later passed through the hands of smugglers, confessors, and royal archivists. Its most famous key opened the sealed reliquary of Saint Orra, though the person who kept the secret that created it was never identified.
