The Homesick Seasoner
A small, pear-shaped saltshaker fashioned from pale blue ceramic, glazed with a pearlescent sheen like moonlight on seawater. Its silver cap is pierced with seven star-shaped holes, and a thin band of tarnished copper circles its middle. One side bears the faded image of a smiling sun, while the other shows an empty outline where its matching sibling once rested. The stopper is warm when its bearer is happy, cold when they are afraid, and faintly damp when they are lonely.
Lore
The Homesick Seasoner was made by the twin halfling chefs Marra and Pell Underbough, whose traveling kitchen became famous for meals that settled feuds and rekindled friendships. Each sibling crafted one shaker, and together they discovered that food seasoned by both could make even bitter enemies understand one another's feelings. When Pell vanished during a voyage through the Shimmering Sea, Marra's shaker began producing only a faintly sorrowful salt. It has been called homesick ever since.
History
Marra Underbough carried this shaker from inn to inn for forty years, using it to comfort refugees, reconcile squabbling nobles, and prepare a final meal for condemned prisoners. After Marra's death, the shaker passed through several kitchens before being stolen by a collector who believed its missing sibling was hidden in a sunken merchant vessel. Some say the sibling is still aboard that wreck; others claim it was carried into the Feywild by a homesick sailor.
