Gauntlet of Claycrush
A heavy iron gauntlet, dark as basalt with veins of copper and ember-glow runes along the knuckles. The palm bears a relief of a pillar being squeezed into powder, and the fingers are subtly knurled to cling to stone and rock. When worn, the gauntlet hums with the memory of bedrock, as if the earth itself were listening to its bearer.
Lore
Forged in the subterranean forges of a long-forgotten dwarven clan, the Gauntlet of Claycrush was tempered to mirror the nature of their mountains: unyielding, patient, and capable of crushing stone as if it were clay. Legends say the first bearer used it to pry open a sealed valley by bottling the mountain’s breath and squeezing it until the walls turned to rubble. The gauntlet has since passed through many hands—siege engineers, treasure hunters, and mischief-makers—yet always returns to the hands of one who can listen to the rock beneath their feet.
History
Originally crafted by the master runemaster Thalorin Glintstone, the gauntlet was placed with a clan champion to aid in breaking a stubborn stone barrier centuries ago. After a catastrophic collapse, the gauntlet vanished from dwarven records, resurfacing in a caravan of relics, and later reappearing in a ruined temple beneath a city’s long-abandoned quarries. Each owner leaves a mark on the rock the gauntlet touches, until the stone itself begins to remember its bearer’s name.
