Bondbreaker
A gleaming +2 longsword with a blade of tempered steel. Its fuller is etched with interlocking manacles breaking apart, and a small sapphire sits in the pommel. The crossguard is shaped like two broken rings. The blade hums with a pale blue light when near magic that binds or restrains, and the runes along the length glow faintly when used to sever a bond.
Lore
Forged by a reclusive order known as the Liberators, Bondbreaker was created to answer a paradox: to free those unjustly bound by spells, yet never interfere with rightful oaths and fate. Its maker carved sigils of release into the blade's spine and bound a fragment of anti-magic into its essence. The weapon seeks worthy targetsโthose who would bind others through magic, and those who themselves are bound unjustly by enchantment.
History
First wielded by a paladin-archmage who led a rebellion against a tyrant who chained minds with a geas. The blade has changed hands through wars and revolutions, appearing wherever oaths were twisted into chains. Its current owner is a spellcaster of good alignment who uses it to free captives and nullify corrupt enchantments.
