The Bow of the Forest is a tall, graceful longbow carved from a single, living yew tree. Its limbs are inlaid with pale green sapwood runes that shimmer faintly when drawn. The bowstring is braided from moon-lit spider silk and dyed with emerald hues. When unstrung, delicate leaves seem to whisper along the bow’s frame, and a soft, earthy fragrance lingers in the air. Range: 150/600 feet; standard longbow range.

Verdant Imbue As a bonus action, you can imbue the bow to change its damage to poison. While imbued, the bow’s damage on each hit becomes poison damage equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) instead of its normal damage. The imbue lasts for 1 minute or until you use a bonus action to end it.

Forest’s Mark While attuned to the Bow of the Forest, you gain a +1 bonus to initiative rolls and Wisdom checks involving woodland knowledge (Nature, Survival in forested terrain). This bonus is always active; it does not require attunement to activate.

Critical Poison If you score a critical hit while the bow is imbued, the target must succeed on a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw or become poisoned for 1 minute. A poisoned target repeats the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the condition on a success.

Lore

Legends say the Bow of the Forest was forged by a circle of druids who bound a portion of the forest’s will into weapon form. It is said to choose those who respect the balance of nature, granting their arrows a touch of living poison that harms wicked creatures without crippling the land’s guardians.

History

Once wielded by a hunter-druid named Lyren Willowmantle, the bow vanishingly appeared to those who spoke respectfully to trees and petitioned the woods for aid. It has appeared in the hands of rangers who patrol ancient forests and protect sanctuaries from corruption. Its current whereabouts are unknown, rumored to rest in a hidden glade awaiting a worthy bearer.
