Dagger of the Luminous Glyphs

โš”๏ธ Weapon (dagger) Rare
requires attunement by a spellcaster
Damage 1d4 piercing
finesse light thrown (20/60)
Charges: 7 (regains at dawn)

A slender, blackened steel dagger with a blade that seems to drink light. Its hilt is wrapped in dark blue leather, and inlaid along the bladeโ€™s fuller are runes that glow with a pale blue-white light. When it strikes, ghostly glyphs leap from the wound and drift upward into the air as if remembered by the air itself.

Runic Afterglow When you hit a creature with this dagger, pale runes shimmer in the air at the strike site. The runes float in the air for 1 minute, shedding bright blue light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet.
Glyph Burst While the runes linger, you can expend 1 charge as a bonus action to unleash their power. The rune-filled air erupts in a 15-foot cone centered on the struck creature. Each creature in the area must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 2d6 radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. This ability costs 1 charge per use.

Lore

The Dagger of the Luminous Glyphs was forged in the twilight forges of the Archivists of Vaelor, a sect dedicated to imprisoning knowledge within light. It is said the runes drawn in the air still whisper to those who can listen, guiding the wielder toward hidden truths.

History

The blade passed through many hands across empires. It once belonged to a storm-binder who sealed a city gate with radiant sigils, then later was carried by a hunter of aberrations who traced glowing glyphs that revealed the steps to unseen doors.
