Actions
Legendary Actions
The Epoch Rewriter can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Epoch Rewriter regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Lair
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the creature can take a lair action to cause one of the following effects; it can't use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Chronal Echo. At the start of the Rewriter's turn, a chronal echo fills a 60-foot radius. All nonmagical light within the area dims, and any creature that starts its turn in the area must succeed on a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw or be moved 10 feet in a random direction.
- Hourglass Collapse. The sand in the Hourglass of Aeons within 60 feet swirls violently. Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or have its speed halved until the start of the Rewriter's next turn.
- Self-Repair Burst. The Rewriter regains 20 hit points (to a maximum of its HP). This does not count against its legendary actions.
Regional Effects
The region containing the creature's lair is warped by its magic, creating the following effects:
- Within 6 miles of the lair, clocks and hourglasses run backward for 1 minute each hour, causing time-based effects to reverse or reset.
- Spectral echoes of past battles haunt the area, giving advantage to the Rewriter on checks related to time or history.
- The Hourglass of Aeons, a core anchor of the Rewriter's power, hums with golden light; destroying it requires a ritual performed in the creature's lair and takes 1 hour per attempt.
If the creature dies and the World Reset occurs, these regional effects fade over the course of 1d10 days unless the Hourglass of Aeons is restored to its pedestal.

Lore & Description
Appearance
A towering, humanoid silhouette cloaked in shifting obsidian skin etched with runes that resemble spinning hourglasses. Its eyes are twin voids that swallow light, and clockwork gears click softly beneath its ribcage as time itself seems to bend around it. When it speaks, its voice is a whisper of winds through an empty timetable, promising renewal and warning of consequences if its peace is broken.
Behavior & Origins
Long ago, a council of chronomancers sought to mend tragedies by weaving timelines back together. They failed, and from the fracture crawled the Epoch Rewriterโa being that feeds on moments lost and resets entire worlds when slain. It haunts ruins and high peaks, isolating civilizations who dare tamper with fate. The only way to permanently stop it is to destroy the Hourglass of Aeons, the temporal anchor buried within its lair. Until then, death is only a temporary pauseโthe world itself will erase the death and begin anew, as if nothing happened.
