Mystic Rage Great Sword

โš”๏ธ Weapon (greatsword) Common
requires attunement by a spellcaster
Damage 2d6 slashing
heavy two-handed

The Mystic Rage Great Sword is a towering blade forged from dark steel with veins of pale silver running along the fuller. Its pommel is crowned with a cabochon of smoky crystal that seems to shimmer with inner storms. The grip is wrapped in deep blue leather, stitched with runes that catch the light when the sword hums with power. The blade feels unusually light for its size, yet radiates a palpable weight of ancient fury.

Rage of the Mystic Once per day, as a bonus action, you can enter a true barbarian rage for up to 1 minute. While raging, you gain advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws, temporary hit points equal to your character level at the start of the rage, and resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. While the rage lasts, you deal +2 damage with this weapon and cannot be charmed or frightened. The rage ends early if you are knocked unconscious, if you fall to 0 hit points, or if you choose to end it as a bonus action.
Second Strike (Disadvantaged) While you are in the Mystic Rage, on a hit you can trigger a second strike against the same target. The second strike is resolved as part of the same action sequence, but must be made with disadvantage. You may use this ability a number of times per day equal to your Strength modifier (minimum 1). The daily uses reset at dawn.

Lore

Legends say the blade was tempered by a storm-wracked deity of battle, meant to temper a warrior who sought to discipline their rage as a weapon. It was discovered in a ruined temple where war songs etched themselves into the metal as if the blade remembered every clash it witnessed. Warlords who wielded it claimed the sword granted not only strength, but a forge of resolve that turned anger into precision on the battlefield.

History

The swordโ€™s hilt bears a single inscription: โ€˜Let the storm within guide the strike.โ€™ The original wielder was a battlefield commander who taught his troops to channel rage into unstoppable momentum. It later passed through the hands of mercenary bands and a stormcaller's order before settling in a secluded armory, waiting for a worthy spellcaster to unlock its true potential daily.
