Cloak of Shadowfeathers
A cloak of midnight-black fabric woven from shadow-silk, the cloak's edge is lined with feather-like shadows that shed in soft puffs with every movement. The feathers flutter and drift behind you as you walk, leaving behind a wake of twilight that seems to cling to your silhouette. The garment feels lighter than it should, and when you move, the shadows around you pool and part as if the night itself were a living, breathing thing.
Lore
The Cloak of Shadowfeathers is said to be woven from the last sighs of a thousand shadows, stitched together by a shadow-weaver who bargained with night itself. When worn, the cloak allows its bearer to slip through darkness as easily as a bird glides through air, its feather-like shadows fluttering and shedding wherever the wearer treads. Legends tell of thieves who could vanish in plain sight and of scouts who could cross a battlefield unseen by stepping through shadowy feathers that fell from the cloak like rain.
History
Originating in a forgotten house of rogues on the edge of the Material Plane, the cloak changed hands many times: traded among thieves, sold to spies, and eventually found by a ranger who used its Shadowstep to outmaneuver a pursuing warband. Each owner added a new story to its weave, until it returned to the night-woven stocks where shadows are believed to be born. The cloakโs feathered ticks and whispers are said to echo the quiet flutter of wings from some long-lost creature of darkness.
