Lore & Description
Appearance
A thin, shifting silhouette of smoke and clockwork gears, the Interstice flickers in and out of existence. Its eyes are empty voids, and its body hums with the quiet tick of a clock that never reaches zero. It is never fully seen, and when it seems to be there, it is already gone again, occupying the micro-instant between initiative counts. It strikes with surgical timing, as if time itself were a weapon.
Behavior & Origins
This being emerges from the tremor between counts, a guardian of the moment when time seems to pause. Adventurers who race to act find that the Interstice knew their plan before they did, punishing those who rush or miscalculate. It feeds on deliberate choices made with too much haste; the more a party acts in a single breath, the more it is drawn to the breach in time.
