Lore & Description
Appearance
A mound of damp, wrinkled laundry coils and shifts as if it breathes. Patches of mildew glow faintly in the folds, and buttons peer like eyes among the fabric. Socks dangle like fingers, occasionally twitching to snare passing ankles. It shuffles forward with a rustling, dry sighโan outlandish pile that seems to live to smother intruders with its long, constricting scarves of fabric. The air is thick with the smell of detergent and damp wool, and the thing seems to glow with a sickly laundry-light as it moves.
Behavior & Origins
In dim corners of neglected laundromats and dusty closets, a curse festers in loops and threads. When a garment is left to rot in a place that has seen too many secrets, the fabric can fuse into a single, wandering massโthe Sockmire. It delights in strangling foes with socks, dragging victims into its writhing folds until they slip free or are consumed by the pile itself. Those who defeat a Sockmire often find their socks damp with an unknown tincture and a lingering sense of being watched by a thousand unseen hems.
