Lore & Description
Appearance
A sinuous serpent with copper-inked scales that resemble aged parchment. Its wings are four vast sheets of parchment, edges frayed and curling, each covered in runes that glow with pale blue light. As it moves, the runes ripple like moving script, and a faint scent of old ink fills the air. When it breathes, a brittle gust of paper flakes drifts from its maw. The Runebound Serpent dwells in ruined libraries and mist-shrouded glades, guarding knowledge and punishing those who would deface it.
Behavior & Origins
Ancient scribes believed knowledge should be carried by living pages. Legends tell of a mighty spellbound library that bled into the world, fusing with a slumbering serpent to birth the Runebound Serpent. Its parchment wings carry the whispers of countless tomes, and its runes grant both ward and weapon. It hunts intruders who seek to steal or destroy knowledge, while tempting scholars with glimpses of forbidden lore.
