Lore & Description
Appearance
Ashgoat is a medium-sized caprine monstrosity with a thick white coat that bears charcoal-black patches. Its horns curve menacingly and glow faintly with ember-like veins when it stares. Its most unsettling feature is its hind legs, which bend backwards, giving it an almost unnatural, jerky gait. Its eyes burn like coals, and they flare whenever it uses its gaze to intimidate or attack. Its voice is a low bleat that carries a hint of screeching metal. In combat, it uses its horns to gore and can unleash a brief fiery gaze that terrifies foes.
Behavior & Origins
Legends tell that the Ashgoat is the cursed offspring of a fire-worshipping cultist and a mountain goat. It hunts at night, often on narrow ledges where it can spring from above, using its backward joints to twist away from would-be captors. Its burning eyes are said to be the last thing a traveler sees before the goat's infernal glare etches fear into the mind. Some shepherds claim the Ashgoat guards the sacred passes, feeding on fear as surely as it feeds on grass. It is a solitary predator, attacking with precision and retreating into crags when threatened.
