Lore & Description
Appearance
A towering frame of iron and sinew, the Limbbound Ballista resembles a colossal siege engine brought to life. Its chassis is a lattice of plates and sinew, with a carven groove where limbs slide into place like arrows. The limbs themselves are living, pale arms with joints that click as if gears grind. It lumbers forward on thick pistons, aiming its groaning war-pursuit at distant targets, and when it releases a shot, a severed limb is hurled like a bolt toward foes, fusing organic menace and mechanical precision.
Behavior & Origins
Born from a failed war experiment, the Limbbound Ballista is a sentient siege engine that can replace its own limbs at will. It waits in ruined fortresses, watching for intruders and savoring the moment to unleash a volley of living projectiles. It hates soft flesh and loves the scent of iron and oil. Adventurers who seek to stop such creatures must detach the limbs themselves and quickly strike at the torso before the ballista reattaches its weapons.
